National Briefing Papers

Research conducted in Bulgaria, Czechia, Italy, Lithuania, Portugal and Slovenia aimed to assess the access to justice for child victims with disabilities, based on the experiences of children with and without intellectual and/or psychosocial disabilities and criminal justice professionals. The reports also formulate recommendations on how to improve the accessibility and integration of child protection systems in criminal proceedings for children, specific to the national context.

The consortium will build on the research findings to

  • develop the model multidisciplinary cooperation system, which will contain practice-oriented guidelines for criminal justice actors to understand the needs and barriers of child victims with intellectual and psychosocial disabilities;
  • organise national trainings to build the capacity of criminal justice professionals;
  • as well as to create the Equal Treatment Training guide, containing information on how to conduct accessible hearings, adjusted to a child victims’ particular disability and situation.
